Die Geschichte der Stadt geht bis auf eine jungsteinzeitliche Siedlung der Hemudu-Kultur vor 7.000 Jahren zur\u00fcck. Die Hemudu war die erste Kultur, die kultivierten Reis anbaute. Zus\u00e4tzlich wurden Wasserb\u00fcffel, Schweine und Hunde zur Nahrung sowie Seidenraupen zur Stoffproduktion gez\u00fcchtet.
